Winter is here, the weather is getting colder and it’s time for us to adjust our skincare accordingly! We’re here with 4 simple winter skincare must-haves, to help keep your skin protected and hydrated when the weather drops. Winter is notorious for drying out the skin, so it’s so important it’s a priority for you at this time of year, just as much as it is through the summer.
Use Gentle Cleansers Once A Day
To clean your skin, you should be using a gentle cleanser once a day. Cleansing is important to remove product and to clear extra oil from the skin. However, keeping some of the natural essential oils in the skin is important as this helps to maintain some hydration and glow in the skin. So, you should use a gentle cleanser once a day, with most people using it after they remove their makeup in the evening. Then, in the morning, you won’t have any product residue, so you can just wash your face with water. This will keep the skin healthy whilst also keeping it clean.
Choose A Rich Moisturiser
Next, you should choose a rich moisturizer, especially if you struggle with dry skin. Your face needs to be rehydrated with a good moisturizer, to not only prevent dryness, but also to help your makeup go on flawlessly in the season where many people have dryer skin. You may need a heavier moisturiser in winter compared to in summer. If you don’t like wearing a thicker moisturiser in the day, instead get yourself a super hydrating night cream to help re-hydrate overnight.
Remember Your SPF
A big misconception when it comes to skincare is that you don’t need SPF in the winter. However, this isn’t the case, as even when the weather is cold, UV rays can still penetrate both clouds and windows, damaging the skin. So, you should make sure that you are applying SPF after your moisturiser everyday, even in the winter, to protect your skin all year round.
Use Cream Products
As skin can dry out, you should try to keep your use of powders to a minimum, as this can contribute to the dryness. Instead, use a cream bronzer, cream blush and concealer, then before you apply any powder, go in with a setting spray. This will keep your makeup locked in, then you can just apply a small amount of powder to the undereye and any other areas where it tends to come off in the day. You help to keep your skin hydrated, whilst also improving how your makeup looks, adding a gorgeous glow!
Don’t Forget Your Lips
Lastly, don’t forget about your lips. Making sure to use a lip buff product will help to remove dead skin, then apply a hydrating lip gloss as part of your makeup routine to not only look great, but to keep your smile hydrated all day. Carry it out with you and top up as needed, especially on colder days or if you’re out eating/drinking!
